I'm a Mummy!

Well not to someone in the form of a human but to a four legged furry animal. A tiger to be exact. You're probably like WTF, as if, but it's true! ;)

Three weeks ago a door-to-door sales man came to my house. Normally I would politely decline whatever they were trying to sell me but this young fella was from Australia Zoo, and frankly I'm a sucker for animals so I listened to what he had to say.

He was on a mission to find people who wanted to sponsor/adopt an animal. Australia Zoo receives no government funding so having animal adopters really helps the zoo with their ongoing fight for wildlife conservation by allowing them to concentrate on breeding programs, state of the art wildlife exhibits, vital rehabilitation programs, veterinary requirements and general husbandry needs.

After finding out how much the zoo relies on donations and admission fees for the zoo, I decided I would adopt an animal. You spend $50 to adopt an animal and then you receive a certificate, a picture of the adopted animal, a letter of appreciation, a fact sheet and a signed picture of the Irwin family.

$50 is honestly nothing when I think about how much the zoo needs donations etc. I mean, I would have probably spent it on more makeup or clothes that I really don't need anymore of. Knowing that my measly $50 helps the animals makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside haha.

So say hello to my baby Mika! Mika is a Bengal tiger. She was born at Mogo Zoo on the 18th of July 2007 and was the runt of the litter. She has a brother called Charlie and a sister called Sunita. You can tell her apart from her siblings as she has a kink in the end of her tail. She is the most active and playful out of the litter, especially when it comes
to playing in the pool that they have at Australia Zoo.

So I did a little research and found this video of Mika and her siblings shortly after they arrived at Australia Zoo. Mind you this was a couple of years ago when they were 19 weeks old. I believe Mika was the first to jump:

Cute aye!

If you would like to adopt an animal. head over to the Australia Zoo website. There are many animals that you can choose to adopt including zebras, kangaroos, tigers, cheetahs, koalas, crocodiles, alligators, turtles, snakes etc and soon you'll be a mummy or daddy too! ;) lol

If you are from a different country than myself, I'm sure a zoo around you would do similar things.

Sea World!

Aloha! <3

Yesterday I took four of my younger siblings to Sea World on the Gold Coast. Noah, another one of my younger siblings, has been in hospital for the past couple of days getting injections in his legs to help him walk more comfortably. Those who read my 'hope bracelet' post would know why he needs them. Anyway my other younger siblings have been sitting at home bored out of their minds for the last few days and since the holidays end on Monday and they all go back to school, I thought I'd be a lovely sister and take them to Sea World ;)

It was the first time I'd even driven to the Gold Coast with no parents telling me which way to go but we made it there with no GPS and didn't even get lost. Since it's an hour and a half drive from where we live, I was pretty proud!

We spent the day looking at all the animals, watching the dolphin, seal and jet-ski shows, visiting dinosaur island and going on rides. It was a really enjoyable day!

Below is a quick film of compiled photos and videos (pretty dodgy but whatevs).
